Oh Canada

After our stop in the Soo, we headed across the International Bridge, breezed thru immigration and headed north on Hwy 17 toward Pancake Bay Provincial Park. It is the closest land to where the Edmund Fitzgerald went down in Nov, 1975. After only a few km of driving we remarked on the rocks and trees, trees and rocks & water (what Canada has) & the beauty of it all. We stopped a few times to look for butter and cream, fill up with diesel and buy a couple bottles of wine. By then it was well past lunch and I suggested we stop at the next place to eat. It was Lori's Diner just north of Goulais River. The food was delicious – Jim had perogies & I had a cheeseburger, but even better was listening to the table of 4 locals sitting near us – pure Canadian! Intelligent people that were obviously good friends that talked, laughed & teared up about a wide range of topics. So even tho' it was a rainy, dreary day we had a dose of sunshine in our lives.
