Good to Bad

Today's weather was outstanding. After another walk on the beach with the dogs we did the short drive from Munising to Tahquamenon Falls SP near Whitefish Bay. We decided to hike the Great Pines Loop this afternoon. It's only 4 mi & includes the beautiful Upper Tahq Falls & also goes by a couple of really old (175 yrs) white pines. Sounded good in our hiking guide book. Other than the falls the hike was a major disappointment especially when compared against yesterday's amazing hike. We cut it short and headed back to the truck. It was all the more disappointing because it could have been a wonderful hike too. This trail was cheated out of the maintenance it sorely needed. The park's resources were instead used for a fancy concession pavillion, walkways and viewing platforms around the main attraction - Upper Tahq Falls. Ever the optomists, we'll try another trail here tomorrow.
